Jelly Roll's past is a big part of who he is in the present. His criminal past is something he doesn't shy away from - and when good things pop up from years gone by, he welcomes those as well.
At a concert over the weekend in Missouri, Jelly stopped down to recognize someone - or something - he saw in the crowd. Jelly Roll paused to greet the audience, then see a former classmate he recognized and called her out. And the whole thing was caught on the overhead screen.
"I heard you went on to do good things, girl," he says into the mic. "I heard you went on to be a nurse and everything. Is your mama here?" Jelly Roll asks before the woman's mother appears on the big screen. "No f-----g way. Paige is here? Holy s--t!" See the very NSFW exchange here.
Both the classmate and her mother even brought evidence to prove that they go way back with the rapper-turned-country-star. They held up a giant blanket featuring a yearbook photo of a young Jelly Roll they had made for the occasion. Jelly seemed genuinely surprised by the encounter with his old classmate and her mom, saying they hadn't seen each other since they were kids. "I love you, girl," he tells the young woman. "I'll see you after the show. We'll make sure we get you and your mama backstage."
