Miranda Lambert shared a look at the moment right before she took the stage at the 59th CMA Awards last month in Nashville, Tennessee.
Lambert posted the backstage look on TikTok on Tuesday (December 9). She and fellow country superstar Chris Stapleton teamed up on the Bridgestone Arena stage to perform “A Song To Sing.” They wrote the duet with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor, and released it earlier this year. The song reflects “the truth of giving one’s soul to the music and heart to the one at home.”
“Chris understands the emotion of this song from the inside out, because he and Morgane [Stapleton’s wife] have both lived it,” Lambert previously said of the duet. “To have someone so soulful and willing to go into the heart of the feelings, to share the pull of the road and creative life — and what that means when you love someone with every bit of your being is next level. When we finished it, we both knew we wanted to release it, to share it with everyone.”
Lambert and Stapleton took the stage wearing accessories from the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers estates, as they had in the retro, 70s-inspired music video. Their rendition of “A Song To Sing” was one of many performances throughout the star-studded night, along with performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Brandi Carlile, Kenny Chesney, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Patty Loveless, Old Dominion, The Red Clay Strays, BigXthaPlug, Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, Shaboozey, Zach Top, Tucker Wetmore, Lainey Wilson and Stephen Wilson Jr., Keith Urban and Little Big Town.
