33% of students in Larimer County schools are eligible for free or reduced lunches. Unfortunately when school is out for the summer, these students do not have access to school meals and could go hungry.
In order to combat this, the Food Bank for Larimer County (FBLC) provides free meals to low-income kids. They will serve meals at 14 different locations around Larimer County and anticipates serving 1,000 meals per day.
The Food Bank for Larimer County’s Kids Café program has offered meals to children ages three to 18 since 2005 and partners with numerous children sites including community centers, Boys and Girls Clubs and schools.
The program offers a safe place for the kids to become involved in learning and leisure activities.
The Food Bank for Larimer County’s Kids Café program provided almost 67,000 meals last year and have expanded their locations this year.
