Fort Collins is the home of the nation's safest drivers, according to a report released by The Allstate Insurance Company.

Fort Collins drivers were named the safest drivers in America for the third year in the ninth annual Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report™ today. According to the report, the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 13.9 years, which is 28.2 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years.

A variety of factors, including citizen attentiveness to good driving behaviors, local focus on reducing distracted driving, good roadway designs and street maintenance were all factors to the city earning this distinction.

"For the third year, in the report’s history, we’ve earned the title of the "Safest Driving City in America" due to the responsible behavior and safe driving habits of our residents," stated Mayor Karen Weitkunat. "I think it is also important to credit our outstanding Police Services and Traffic Operations, both of which work day in and day out to ensure that the City is safe for residents to drive in."
