Casey Lee Albee, 28, of Loveland, has been arrested for the July 3, 2013 stabbing incident in Loveland that resulted in the death of Stephanie Smith and left Albee and another man injured. Albee's charges are related to his alleged assault of the second male.
Casey Albee was charged with:
- Second Degree Assault/Serious Bodily Injury, a class four felony
- First Degree Assault/Deadly Weapon/Heat of Passion, a class five felony
On July 3, 2013, Larimer County Sheriff's Office was summoned to an incident in the 4000-block of West Eisenhower Boulevard, just outside Loveland city limits. The initial call reported that a female had been stabbed at a residence there. LCSO and Loveland Police units arrived and identified three injured persons who were transported to Loveland area hospitals. Stephanie Smith later died as a result of the single stab wound she received during the incident.
Albee and Smith allegedly attacked the second man, a 38-year-old Loveland resident, after an altercation. Smith and Albee followed the second man to his home where the stabbings occurred.
No charges have been filed in the stabbing of Stephanie Smith or Casey Albee as those actions were determined to be in self defense.
